This small church was the headquarters of the Compagnia dei Celesti throughout the 18th century, which oversaw its preservation. The building is located on the edge of the small village of Befa.
The exact date of its foundation is unknown, but the presence of a 15th-century Sienese school triptych suggests that the building already existed by that time. In fact, documentary evidence of it is found only in 1598, the year in which the church appears in the founding documents of the Vicariate of Murlo.
Due to its historical and artistic value, the triptych was purchased by the State in 1972 and is now housed in the Pinacoteca Nazionale in Siena. The work dates to the late 15th century and is attributed to the pictorial circle associated with the work of Vecchietta.
The church, long deconsecrated, is used as a venue for cultural events.
